The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is an amazing trail that gives a taste of the best of the Himalayas. Throughout the trail, you will see several of the highest mountain peaks in the world. Beyond that, you will be exposed to the rich culture quintessential of the Himalayan foothills and revel in their unparalleled hospitality. Become enchanted by the terraced hillsides, lively forests, and roaring rapids. Few trails in the world lead you through such a diversity of landscapes within about a week.
Along the glorious trail, you will be exposed to some of the world’s highest mountain peaks, including Annapurna I (8091 meters), Manaslu (8156 meters), and Dhaulagiri (8167 meters) – three of the highest peaks in the world. The ‘peak moment’ of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is arriving to Annapurna Base Camp (4130 meters) – a walled fortress of rugged mountain peaks.
The trek begins after a lovely drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then further to Nayapul. Stroll through the hills, under the cover of rhododendrons and other brilliant trees. The slow, yet exciting ascent allows for adequate acclimatization. After staying a night in Ghorepani, we make a steep ascent to Poon Hill (3210 meters), one of the most well-known viewpoints in the region. We try and make it for sunrise to see the fiery sun illuminate the snow-capped peaks – a once-in-a-lifetime view.
At last, we arrive to Annapurna Base Camp, full of happiness and excitement. Snap some photos and admire the crisp mountain vistas. After spending a night way up here, we descend the same way we came, stopping in Jhinu Danda on the way out. This magical place has a little hot spring about 25 minutes from the teahouse. Bathing here has a healing effect on the body and mind – a perfect way to end the trek.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is not a marathon journey that requires taking several weeks of hiking, nor is it a short trek that leaves you unsatisfied. It is the perfect length that takes you from the foothills past the treeline to Annapurna Base Camp. The trail is suitable for trekkers of all experience levels. Book your Annapurna Base Camp Trek adventure today and have positive memories to look back on for the rest of your life!
Book the Annapurna Base Camp Trek all throughout the year. Though the trek is available anytime, certain seasons provide the best weather. In the springtime (March to May), the rhododendrons are blooming and scenery is lush. During autumn (September to November), skies are clearest and mountain views are best. Summer (rainy season) and winter do not provide the best trekking conditions, but on the other hand, you can enjoy more solitude on the trail. If you have any questions, please contact us!
Nigme was a excellent guide and host. At each Teahouse/lodge he made sure I was ok and settled, he was very popular with locals and owners of teahouses. Ngima’s has great knowledge of the trekking routes and is a really down to earth guy. My itinerary was for me to just go to Annapurna Base camp on a 11 day trek, which would have taken 3-4 days but Nigme took me to Ghorepani and Poon Hill, Ghurjung before making our way up to ABC. On the way down we visited the Hot Springs before heading out through Landruk and ending the trek at Dhampus. I would highly recommend using Nigme, you are sure to have a great trek and experience.
