Chulu West Peak and Annapurna Circuit

Duration: 25 Days   |   1 Reviews

Join us in the once in a lifetime excursion to the Peak of Chulu West (6419 meters / 21,060 feet)! This package is truly an amazing combo package, as it combines the Annapurna Circuit Trek with an epic journey to Chulu West Peak. It is a famous journey into the heart of the Annapurna region (specifically Annapurna Conservation Area Project).
The peak was first summited in 1952 by a team of Japanese mountaineers. Summit Chulu West and become part of history! The ascent, though challenging, will give you the experience of a lifetime, a memory you will hold and cherish for a lifetime.
Before the actual climb, pass through the Marsyangdi River Valley and enjoy magnificent waterfalls, forests, and rivers. Then, enter Nepal’s precious Manang region, characterized by barren hills and high cliffs. Soon enough, we arrive to Chulu West Base Camp and High Camp where we take some time to acclimatize and prepare for the adrenaline-pumping ascent.
Before the sun comes up for the day, we are already awake and ready for the ascent. As the sun rises, the mind-blowing views are seen. Look down at the entire area we have trekked so far. Then, look up for our climb is not yet finished. At the summit, admire the expansive Tibetan Plateau and the Manang Valley beneath us.
Head back down to continue the rest of the Annapurna Circuit; still some of the best is yet to come. At the infamous Thorong La Pass (5416m), we see Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8156m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna I (8090m), Annapurna South (7219m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), Tilicho (7134m), and Hiunchuli (6441m). It’s a most precious moment.
Muktinath is another breathtaking moment, where you watch lines of pilgrims taking their turn to bathe in the sacred waters of the temple.  Continue to Jomsom and fly out to Pokhara. What an adventure the Chulu West Peak Climbing package is! Something you will never forget.
We have a team of highly experienced guides that do their best to ensure your safety and minimize possible risks in the climb. Also, the itinerary has been designed by expert climbers in order to allow for proper acclimatization – as altitude sickness is the biggest danger on the climb.
NOTE: If you have enough time, we can drive from Jomsom to Tatopani (hot spring), then trek from Tatopani – Ghorepani – Poon Hill – Ghorepani – Tadapani – Ghandruk and then drive to Pokhara. Also, there is the option of first summiting Chulu West Peak, and trekking to Tilicho Lake (opposite direction of itinerary), so you have some options.
Climbing is possible all throughout the year. Though the trek is available anytime, certain seasons provide the best weather. In the springtime (March to May), the flowers are blooming and scenery is lush. During autumn (September to November), skies are clearest and mountain views are best. Summer (rainy season) and winter do not provide the best trekking conditions, but on the other hand, you can enjoy more solitude on the trail. If you have any questions, please contact us!

  • Day 02:Sightseeing tour around Kathmandu. After breakfast, we invite you on a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu. A visit to Nepal would not be complete without visiting the country’s most beloved tourist destinations, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites. Spend the rest of the day as you please. Overnight in hotel on B&B basis.
  • Day 03:Drive from Kathmandu to Jagat (1100m).Take an early breakfast in Kathmandu, and drive in a private vehicle to Jagat. It’s a long drive, but the ever-changing scenery makes it go by fast. Pass hills and villages along the Trishuli River until Pokhara, where the road weaves up over the hills. Relax and enjoy the ride. When we arrive to Jagat, stroll around and stretch your legs out. Overnight in teahouse lodge.
  • Day 04:Jagat to Dharapani (1960m).The trail today is beautiful and not overly difficult. Start by hiking through the sun-struck forests. After moving up and down to scenic viewpoints, we make a final descent to the vast valley floor. Throughout the day, lush, vibrant scenery surrounds us. A little after midday, we reach Dharapani. Overnight in teahouse lodge.
  • Day 05:Dharapani to Chame (2710m).To get to Timang (our first stop), we follow a rough, but topographically easy trail. The day is not so long, so we have time to stop for a tea or snack in Timang. Meanwhile, verdant forests surround us, keeping us cool and refreshed. Not long after Timang, we reach Kopar, a rest spot that have sweet mountain views, particularly of the Annapurna peak. Feeling renewed, we continue to Chame, known as the headquarters of the Manang region. Today, we have gained a lot of elevation, though the climb was not too strenuous. Take it easy the rest of the day. Overnight in guest house.
  • Day 06:Chame to Pisang (3300m).We eat breakfast and leave Chame, looking back at the looming peak of Manaslu. The trail out is flat with forests on each side. Soon, we reach a beautiful apple orchard before Bhratang, a nice village with stone-built houses. Have a short rest in one of the teahouses and try a cup of the local apple cider! After, head further through the valley and take in some great views of Annapurna II, Pisang Peak, Hiunchuli, and Ngadi Chuli. We can either stay in Lower Pisang (3240 meters) if you’re tired, or we can trudge on to Upper Pisang, where the mountain views are even better. Overnight in teahouse lodge.
  • Day 07:Trek from Pisang to Ngawal (3660m). Today’s journey through the arid, barren landscape is short but sweet. We could keep going to Manang, but it is smart to spend a day in Ngawal to acclimatize more efficiently. Overnight in teahouse lodge.
  • Day 08:Trek from Ngawal to Manang (3540m).Another short day of trekking and stunning landscape brings us to Manang. Manang, though small, is the largest village in the area. Locals practice Buddhism and you will get to experience their fascinating culture. Overnight in teahouse lodge.
  • Day 09:Acclimatize day in Manang.Today is spent adjusting to the change in altitude to prevent problems in the future. Also, there is too much to see in and around Manang village to leave without a day of exploration. The village is made up of Buddhists of Tibetan descent. Several colourful monasteries and chhortens lie here, adding some charm and fascination to the area. We take a marvelous day hike to Gangapurna Lake and discover the beauty surrounding it. Overnight in teahouse lodge.
  • Day 10:Trek from Manang to Tilicho Base Camp (4400m).After breakfast, we start the long day. Hike for about an hour to Khangsar, a small village where houses are made from stone and are built around the charming village square. Take a quick rest and continue upwards to Thare Gompa. From here, it’s a short walk to Shree Kharka, where we can stop for lunch or a snack. Here, we make a final ascent to Tilicho Base Camp. Most trekkers do not even know about Tilicho before starting their journey. One of the trails to base camp is less safe than the other because of a steep field of scree, but we must take whichever route is open because sometimes only the less safe one is open. Regardless, we proceed with caution. Overnight in tent camp.
  • Day 11:Trek to Tilicho Lake (4900m) back down to Tilicho Base Camp.Today’s trek is challenging, but well worth it. We arrive to the magical Tilicho Lake after an intense uphill climb. While climbing, look up around you at the incredible view of the villages Pisang and Manang, Tilicho Peak and other peaks. Also, all around you are pristine glaciers. Soon, we get to the jaw-dropping clear blue lake. Take some photos and move back down to Tilicho Base Camp. It is a strenuous day, but will leave you with lifelong memories. Overnight in tent camp.
  • Day 12:Trek from Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (4050m).Have breakfast before starting the path towards Yak Kharka, a beautiful alpine yak grazing field. Today’s itinerary takes about four hours, could be a little longer if we take breaks to enjoy the beauty. We stop for lunch halfway and look forward to the beauty that has yet to come. We have already seen immense natural beauty, and there is still more. Overnight at teahouse lodge.
  • Day 13:Trek from Yak Kharka to Chulu West Base Camp (4700m).Today involves a bit of a brutal climb, but the views are more than worth it. The only vegetation that exists up here are shrubby grasses. At the beginning of the day, it’s possible to see large herds of yaks grazing in these pastures. About an hour from Gangapurna Lodge, we reach Churi Ledar. Have lunch somewhere along the way and head up to Chulu West Base Camp. Feel your excitement begin to grow! When we arrive, we set up camp and give you the lowdon on the climbing gear. Overnight in tented camp

  • Day 15:Trek from Base Camp to Chulu West High Camp (5150m).Another tough, but memorable day lies ahead. Traverse the rugged, snowy terrain up to High Camp, where we set up camp. Today, we give you a more thorough briefing on how to use the equipment and what our plan of action is. By the end of the day, if you don’t already know how, you will be able to efficiently use the ice axe, crampons, harness, etc. Even if you already are familiar with the stuff, a reminder can be helpful.
