The Langtang Valley Trek is a Nepal Himalaya classic! It is the most the convenient trek, as it’s just a half day drive from Kathmandu to the trailhead at Syabrubesi. Not only that, but the views rival the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. In fact, the view from Tserko Ri (4985 meters) on this trek are hard to compete with. Most people opt for the Annapurna or Everest region treks, but this is simply because they are more widely advertised and written about. The Langtang Valley is one of Nepal’s treasures and should not be overlooked!
The path leads you through fertile terraced agricultural fields, lush rhododendron and oak forests (full of diverse wildlife!), into the expansive Langtang Valley. The forests house some unique wild animals, including the rare Red Panda, the Himalayan black bear, the Himalayan tahr, and much more. As we move even higher, we reach Kyanjin Gompa (3900 meters). This alpine grazing pasture sits at the lap of the grand Himalayas. There is even a yak cheese factory here, where you can sample the local treat. The Langtang Valley Trek gets even better from here. The day after arriving at Kyanjin Gompa, we take a day hike up to Tserko Ri for unbelievable views of the Langtang region peaks and beyond. It is a sight that you will never forget. Snap some photos and relax up here before heading back down to Kyanjin Gompa.
Throughout the Langtang Valley Trek, you will interact with some of the kindest, most welcoming people out there. Most of the locals belong to the Tamang ethnic group. They practice Tibetan Buddhism and have ancestral roots in Tibet. They are noted for their hospitality, and spending time with them is always one of the most memorable parts of the trek.
There is a reason why the Langtang Valley Trek is one of Nepal’s classic treks. You can have breathtaking mountain views, meet wonderful local people, and see an array of wildlife, all within a week from leaving the trailhead. Join us soon on this magnificent adventure!
Book the Langtang Valley Trek all throughout the year. Though the trek is available anytime, certain seasons provide the best weather. In the springtime (March to May), the rhododendrons are blooming and scenery is lush. During autumn (September to November), skies are clearest and mountain views are best. Summer (rainy season) and winter do not provide the best trekking conditions, but on the other hand, you can enjoy more solitude on the trail. If you have any questions, please contact us!
